Tiger Eye assist with King & Wood Mallesons secure data migrations following firm’s closure

In conjunction with Ruby Datum, Tiger Eye acted as one of the trusted IT advisors in the handling of the secure mass document and data migrations from King & Wood Mallesons, following the firm’s high-profile collapse earlier this year.  More than 21,000 matters, stored in the industry-leading iManage Work DMS, were successfully migrated using Tiger Eye’s own tool, TEC Migration Suite.

Andrew Hosking and Sean Bucknall from specialist restructuring firm Quantuma were appointed as Joint Administrators. Samantha Palmer, Partner and Head of Professional & Financial Risks at Ashfords LLP, and Senior Associate Crispin Jones, were appointed as Joint Solicitor Managers advising on all regulatory responsibilities including ensuring that clients’ money and interests were protected. Peter Jones, IT Manager at Ashfords, said: “Having already worked with Tiger Eye since last year, we knew already that they had the understanding and experience of the iManage DMS. Fortunately, they were also able to be flexible and fit the work in, given the critical time pressures we were all under.

Ruby Datum, a leading virtual data room provider, were commissioned by Quantuma to carry out the extraction and secure data upload of all data including client files.

Richard Bown, Project Co-Ordinator at Tiger Eye handled the day-to-day project management of this huge data extraction and migration task. “It hasn’t been an easy task,” commented Richard. “There was a huge volume of data, and very short timescales available to us. Fortunately, we were able to apply our knowledge of previous migrations, and scale up our solution to meet this challenge.”

Tiger Eye’s agility and flexibility meant we could resource-shift quickly, which, combined with help from Ruby Datum’s on-site IT team, meant we successfully completed the secure data migration within a tight timetable.”

We were very happy to help,” notes Daveand the firm had a well-organised DM solution in iManage.”
