SevernWay2018 Stage Two: 2 September 2018

Tiger Eye are proud to announce their sponsorship of Stage Two of the Severn Way 2018, a 211-mile trek through the English and Welsh countryside following the River Severn from source to sea. The challenging trail was planned by Martyn Wells of Wright Hassall LLP to raise awareness of melanoma and fundraise for Macmillan, who continue to support him after his diagnosis of malignant melanoma in 2017.

Despite undergoing seven surgeries in the past year, including the most recent which removed his entire stomach, Martyn is fiercely training for the entire Severn walk and setting the pace for Tiger Eye’s own fundraising participants. Dave Wilson and Julie Wilson, Karen Hoolahan, Kevin Mouzer and David Bullock will be undertaking Stage Two alongside the core Severn Way walkers on Sunday 2 September 2018, an 18-mile section travelling from Llanidloes to Newtown.

David Bullock, Tiger Eye’s Director of Client services, says “Martyn is a real superhero and an amazing guy, which makes us feel even more privileged to not only sponsor the second day of the walk but to also walk it alongside him.

“It’s such an important cause to draw attention to and the charity does fantastic work. Remembering why we are doing it will help us through any shortlived aches and pains, as will hopefully topping up the fundraising to help reach the overall target.”

The walk is already over 50% of the way to reaching its fundraising target for Macmillan, who provide vital services and support to those affected by cancer. Presently in the UK, seven people die every day from melanoma and the walk seeks to both raise awareness of the disease and promote education for everyday prevention methods against sun damage to our skin.

The team have been gearing up and collecting the training miles under their belts, which you can find updates for every week on the Facebook event page and on our Twitter. To make a donation, go to the JustGiving Page.
